The Randy pigeon
My girlfriend Jo, moved in a while ago and she adjusts things around the house, which I didn’t see and make the house look nicer. As a result, I then see things that need doing/fine tuning and this has re-invigorated my DIY.
I’ve been busy and take the occasional break in the garden, on the swing seat. It’s springtime and birds are active, particularly pigeons, which I observe are actively chasing each other on the house roof and my chimney pots.
I’m done for the day and plonk myself down on a chair in the lounge and hear the sound of fluttering from the chimney above …. that Pidgeon is a real trier 😂.
A few minutes later, I hear wings fluttering, getting louder and nearer and soon I realise that a Pidgeon is down the chimney, which is sealed off, at the fireplace.
I’m in my 70’s and after a busy day, I’m knackered, but I can’t leave the Pigeon to a dark and lonely fate. As previously mentioned, flirting on the chimney pots has been regular and I would have thought that the pigeons would be practised in avoiding the chimney hole !
I guess that a randy, over enthusiastic lunge, caused him to miss his target ….mmm ….. suppose we’ve all been there at sometime, eh 😂.
So, I achingly rise and set about the task of dismantling my DIY TV gubbins/fireplace job of some years ago. This will involve removing hidden electrics, ( don’t like seeing wires) and the accompanying woodwork, then cutting a big hole in the wooden tray, (tray done by the previous occupant), to get the Pigeon. The butchered chimney blocking tray then needs fully removing and a new one made, followed by re-assembly of everything.
After that, I’ll be able to resume my previous, pre-Pigeon, near horizontal position, once again in the lounge chair…. Oh, joy.
