Blogging …my beginning

Just setting up and starting a blog, following friends suggesting that’s what I should do.
Is there a hidden message there, because it may reduce my time and hence frequency in messaging them with stuff 😂.
I’ve spent the last couple of weeks (having purchased a laptop, to be able to create a blog website), re-familiarising myself with the wonderful world of Windows, (stopped doing that sort of thing….last time used Vista) and oh, joy. I am reminded of why I moved to Apple and iPad……security software download to enable safe use of the internet…+££, Microsoft 365, to be able to adequately email, write and use a spreadsheet etc….+££, all to use a not very user friendly, or particularly intuitive bit of gear and I’m already getting irrelevant and annoying messages from the system, which I can’t tell to bugger off, although I was able to do that for HP messages(the new laptop). Setting up the new website’s email, a doddle on iPad and phone, but a pigging long (well, an hour or so), frustrating saga in Windows 10/Outlook. Some of the more useful stuff in Vista is now hidden/hard to find, because Microsoft has tried to make their system easier, which results in annoying stuff and installations (like external hard drive, to bring in old Vista stuff), harder to do, because you either can’t find it, or it takes up time diving in to Windows 10.
I’m an old boy, but always attacked things that I don’t know, to become the boss of it and when doing this, I am always very focused….the dog got fed (of course), but the washing up and washing, grew and lay waiting, whilst getting the laptop in to a condition whereupon I could begin the challenge of learning and understanding WordPress and it’s plug-ins (apps) needed to program the new website stuff 😊. Thanks Microsoft, charmed….ooh, and their fecking help pages, on the internet, rarely are of help, as their page title gleefully suggests.
Back in the Dark Ages (1980), I remember seeing stuff about the new BBC(Acorn)/Amstrad/Commodore/Atari, computers and thinking that this would not go away and that it would enter mainstream, in to the business world. Not knowing and it becoming a grey area, was not an option and with that, accompanied by my then wife, who wondered, “Why ?”, an hour or 2 later, we were in Sheffield (I think it was), in a building, which for the life of me, I can’t remember, what it was. It felt like a school, because all the computers were surrounded by kids, who gave appearance of knowledge. Feeling awkward, I edged forward, with an increasing feeling of being out of depth. I remember saying to my wife, “It’s a load of kids, pressing tits on a keyboard”. We left shortly after and I later bought a BBC B computer and taught myself Basic…..nothing to do with my job, but I would never feel daunted again by this new technology.
Bit of a detour there 😊, but, point being, that I am not a technology dick, anymore than returning to Microsoft, being a reunion with a long lost friend.
This is just a kick off, if anybody is reading this and there’s still more website building stuff to learn and do, but, after all that is something to be done, so that I can Blog.
Haha, it may provide a respite or “furlough”, from my messaging stuff, to them, for my friends.
